First 3 mile run after being down for three days with the stomach flu. It wasnโ€™t hard and I took it a bit easier than usual, but I definitely felt it. Glad I did it. ๐Ÿƒ

Not sure why it took so long to arrive, but I finally got my copy of Pete Souzaโ€™s book, Obama: An Intimate Portrait. Absolutely incredible photography.

Coming down from the stomach flu today. It hit me around 1:30am on Wednesday morning and knocked me on my ass. This is my third day off from work (which, by the way, is my second week in my new position) and Iโ€™m still a bit naseous, but nowhere near where I was on Wednesday. Ugh.

First day in the service department. Left the house at 7:10am after a 3 mile run and breakfast with my girlfriend. Left last job at 4:45pm and my drive home was 25 minutes. Iโ€™m home 45 minutes later than usual. Time gone, door to door went from 12+ hours to <10. Now a 2 mile run.

Follow up commentary: Contrast this with getting up at 3:30am, leaving by 4:10am, eating breakfast on the way to work, driving 1 hour+ on the 91 fwy (sometimes paying tolls in the morning and definitely in the afternoon) to be at work by 5:15am, sleeping in my truck until 6am, off work at 2:30pm, home by 4pm, then running 3-4 miles after work.

This new schedule and job arenโ€™t perfect and come with their own sets of issues, but they fit my current lifestyle very well and allow more personal time, FAR less personal road time, a shorter overall work day, a change of scenery, more time to exercise, and more time with Yvonne and the pets.

Today, I stumbled upon the photo on the left, taken in January 2017. I was shocked when I saw it. If this side-by-side isnโ€™t the best motivation to stay healthy...

I got home from work today expecting to leave within 45 minutes to head to San Francisco for SF Beer Week. So, I resolved that I wasn't going to run today. Then I found out we wouldn't leave for two hours. So, I ran a hard, uphill 4 miles, and it was awesome. So happy I ran. ๐Ÿƒ

After averaging 5 miles of running/day since Monday, my body called it quits today at mile 3. Perhaps Iโ€™ll run another mile or so later tonight, but for having a goal of averaging 4 miles/day and hitting 5 miles/day, I think Iโ€™ll be ok. Ultimate February goal is 28-30 mi/week. ๐Ÿƒ
